Justice 2004 Is Being Updated

Candidates for the Illinois Supreme, Appellate and Circuit Courts in Illinois, including candidates for retention,  were asked to submit information for this website by September 17. Most have responded.

Candidates were asked to provide this information (quoted from letter):

1.         Your current biography, preferably in narrative form.

2.         A statement as to why you should be retained.  This can be as long or short as you desire; we will include it on the website as you provide it (although we may need to reformat it and we will correct obvious misspellings or mistakes.).

3.         If you have a campaign committee, please let us know the name of the committee and if you and/or the committee have a website, please let us know that also.  Well create a link to your site.

Candidate information will be posted beginning October 1.  It is being processed now.

The objective of the Illinois Civil Justice League is to provide as much information as possible about judicial candidates.

NOTE:  Links in the right-hand column of this page are active but may not be the most current information available; we are updating all information from the Primary Election and will have current information and links posted by October 1. We decided NOT to remove previous information since most candidate links are valid and active.

The Illinois Civil Justice League appreciates the cooperation of all candidates, regardless of political party or length of service on the judicial bench, in helping share information with Illinois voters.

ICJL particularly appreciates the cooperation of both candidates for the Illinois Supreme Court in the Fifth Judicial District.

After getting Credit Cards, it can be very tempting to go on a spending spree and buying all sorts of new things that you otherwise won't buy before. So, chances are there that you end up shopping a lot and go beyond your affordability level. Ultimately you may be in debt. So, you must resist that temptation and use your Credit Cards wisely. It may be difficult; but proper planning will be helpful. To begin with, you have to remember that you should not spend more than what you can afford. You should have a budget to figure out your affordability. Subtract your monthly expenses from your monthly income. The result you get is your disposable income; you can afford to spend on shopping. Anything beyond this you spend may cause you trouble; remember this when you use your Credit Cards. However, Credit Cards give you the leverage to go beyond the surplus amount. But you should not exceed your disposable income just because you can do this with the Credit Cards. Over usage of the cards may take you to above the credit limit and won't be able to spend any more, even if you have an emergency. And being unable to use the Credit Cards on emergencies is something really pathetic.

Do not use the Credit Cards on impulse. Unless it is very urgent, wait for some days and shop when you get some rebate or cash back. Very often, credit card companies give special offers; you can make use of these offers. This does not mean that you should not use your credit card except in emergencies. Rather, you should use your Credit Cards periodically. Finally, do not delay in paying off the bills. Delay in paying bills may make you pay some extra that is just money going down the drain. Credit card companies, in order to get your business, will offer incentives such as a time-bound 0% interest free rate, air-miles, reward points and even a free broadband. To this catalogue, they have also added the facility for credit card users to support their favourite charities which have been doing commendable work in various fields such as medical research, preservation of wildlife, preserving National Heritage, caring for the sick and aged to mention a few. So how can you use a credit card which supports your favourite charity? Simply by applying for what is known as an Affinity Credit Card. This is a credit card which is affiliated to charities like Heart Foundation Card, Breast Cancer Charity, and the WWF Credit Card. The way it works is that initially the credit card company will make a donation of say, ?5.00 followed by a donation of say, 0.3% of the amount you have spent on your purchase. So, in a nutshell, if you were to spend ?100.00, the credit card company would donate 0.30p to the charity of your choice.
